Working Days Calculator
When planning a project deadline, calculating a notice period, scheduling a delivery, or figuring out how many billable days fall within a period, you typically need business days rather than calendar days. Business days generally exclude weekends (Saturday and Sunday), though some industries and countries define them differently. Public and bank holidays further reduce the count, but these vary widely by country, state, employer, and year, so no automatic holiday list applies universally. This calculator counts the weekdays (Monday through Friday) between a start date and an end date, treating the start date as included and the end date as included by default, so a Monday-to-Friday range of the same week returns five working days. It optionally excludes weekends (enabled by default). It also provides up to five custom date exclusion fields where you can manually enter specific public holidays or company closure dates relevant to your jurisdiction and employer, so the result reflects your actual working-day calendar rather than a generic approximation. The result shows total calendar days, total weekdays before custom exclusions, the number of custom days excluded, and the final net working days. For reference, it also notes the number of weekend days in the selected range. Enter your start date, end date, and any holiday dates to get an accurate business-day count.

How working days are calculated
The calculator counts each day from start to end, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, and any manually excluded holiday dates. The formula is: working days = calendar days - weekend days - holidays.
Working days calculator: frequently asked questions
What are working days?
Working days (or business days) typically refer to Monday through Friday. They exclude weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and, in most employment contexts, public holidays. The number of working days is used to estimate project timelines, delivery schedules, and payroll calculations.
How do I add custom holidays?
Enter specific dates you want to exclude as holidays. The calculator will subtract these dates from the working day count. For example, if you know your office is closed on a particular date, add it to skip that day.
Should I include the start and end dates?
The calculator includes both the start and end dates in its count. If you work from Monday to Friday of the same week, that is 5 working days, not 4.
What public holidays does the calculator use?
Public holidays vary by country, state, and employer. This calculator excludes weekends by default but does not automatically include public holidays. You can add specific holidays manually in the exclusions field, or consult the US federal holiday schedule for reference.
Can I calculate working days across multiple countries?
The calculator counts Monday through Friday by default. For multi-country projects, add holidays specific to each location. The US federal holiday list is a good starting point for US-based work.
